Project Eagle Update
Project Eagle Update
As you recall, Tami announced at BEE® 2012 that she wanted our company to help lead the rebuilding of America by setting an example for creating American jobs, by transitioning all of our internationally sourced products back to American-made. Since then, the Project Eagle Team has been hard at work to make this happen.
The decision was made early on that the team’s first focus would be pottery. Outside of our baskets, which are already American-made, pottery is our largest category. Three teams were formed to explore all our options. These teams traveled the world to gather information on the best way to manufacture Longaberger pottery here in America. They visited facilities in Ohio, New York, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Texas. They also visited four facilities in China.
As a first step, we have decided to partner with two outstanding American pottery manufacturers. Our New Welcome Home Pottery Line, available in the WishList, beginning in March, is a new line manufactured here in the U.S.A.
Secondly, we are entering into a joint venture relationship with an American pottery manufacturer. They’re going to teach us the craft of mass-producing pottery in the U.S.A. and some Woven Traditions® Pottery will be made in the U.S.A. by the end of 2013.
Project Eagle is off to a fast and productive start. The direction that Tami Longaberger gave last July was to create American jobs by bringing our supply chain back to America. Because of your outstanding efforts, in the fourth quarter of 2012, 175 new jobs were created.
