Longaberger Home Consultants and Customers have a long history of coming to the aid of those in need – especially families of those who serve our country through their military service. When Executive Home Consultant Linda Sargent from Dallas, TX, heard the news that the payment of death benefits to families of active duty service members, including travel assistance to claim their loved and a $100,000 payment to the family within 36 hours of the death notice, are suspended due to the US Government shut-down, she sent Tami Longaberger the heart-felt message below;
After hearing the story this evening that the Fisher House Foundation is paying death benefits to the families of American servicemen killed during the government shutdown, I thought maybe Longaberger to include the option at checkout for us, and our customers, to make a donation to the Longaberger Military Cares program to help Fisher House.
According to the news story, the Pentagon will pay the Fisher House back once the shutdown is over. But we know the money will continue to be put to good use by the Fisher House.
This is such a worthy cause and I thank you for considering this.
We’re honored to tell you that because of Linda’s suggestion, and the tens of thousands of extended Longaberger family members who feel the same way, we will be accepting donations for Fisher House to help this important effort beginning today! The Longaberger community has proven time and again that you are a special kind of people who care about one another, and we’re humbled to help organize this effort.
Customers shopping online will now find an optional box at check-out to donate $1 or more to Fisher House. In addition, Home Consultants and our customers may also pledge additional donations at www.longaberger.com/fisherhouse.aspx.
The Fisher House Foundation, is a national organization best known for their network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers nationwide and in Europe. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time – during the hospitalization for a combat injury, illness or disease. Fisher House Foundation also proudly operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans. Over the past several months, our extended Longaberger Family has generated nearly $10,000 in support of Fisher House causes. On behalf of Fisher House and the thousands of families they serve, we thank you in advance for your support once again.
To continue to support this cause, we are extending our current American Valor online promotion through midnight, ET, next Tuesday, October 15. You will find an update below. Please support this great effort and make any donation possible.
